[WATCH] Mary J. Blige Took Us To Church With Oscars Performance
Mary J. Blige took us to church during Sunday night’s Oscars, when she performed “Mighty River” from the Mudbound soundtrack.

Introduced by her good friend, Taraji P. Henson, who described the track as “the pain of life,” Mary took to the stage and poured out her heart as she performed the Oscar nominated song.

She gave us chills as she sang the lyrics “Let it wash me clean..Take this hurt off of me,” with a choir singing, clapping, and hitting tambourines  behind her.

Even though she didn’t take home any statues last night, Mary is a winner for being the first person to earn nominations in the acting and song categories in the same year.  She was nominated for Best Original song, and Best Supporting actress for her role in Mudbound.
