VIM & VIGR Compression Socks

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

If you are reading this, you probably already know that I’m officially in training for a full marathon as well as several half marathons and other smaller races this fall. Added to the training is the fact that right now I’m at a weight much heavier than I’ve ever done any running in the past. Fortunately, I’m working on the weight issue right now and I’m having some success, but the fact remains that I’m pushing my body to its limit each time I add another mile to my training schedule.

The best way to address the issue right now is to be proactive in my recovery. Not only does this mean nutrition, it means using the dreaded stick or foam roller on my IT band when it flares up.  Another thing that feels really great post-workout are my VIM & VIGR compression socks. I was never a big fan of wearing compression socks during races because – well, I live in Florida and it’s usually pretty hot here. This was my position until I started to see some really fun socks out there and especially the compression socks at VIM & VIGR.

What I find works really well for me is that when I finish my run and I’m ready to rest, I peel off the shoes and socks, slip on the compression socks, elevate the legs and enjoy the relaxation and comfort. Using compression socks after working out increases the tissue oxygen recovery rate and has been shown to reduce muscle soreness by 28%. They have so many different fashionable compression socks at VIM & VIGR, I could see myself wearing them during races in the future and planning some of my running outfits around the cool colors and styles.

Because of the fact that sitting for extended periods of time can cause blood flow below the knees to decrease by 50%, it significantly increases the chance of blood clots and reduces the amount of freshly oxygenated blood to reach your legs.  In fact, that last time I traveled to Cleveland from Florida, I had such an issue with my ankle swelling on my injured leg, so I know when I head up in a couple of weeks, I’ll be wearing my VIM & VIGR compression socks to avoid any swelling.

VIM & VIGR has three collections of compression socks to choose from – nylon, cotton and wool. They also have a moisture-wick nylon collection, but I’ll admit the colors aren’t as fun as some of other collections! The pair I selected are – can you guess – PINK! Yep! They fit so well, I love the fit, the style and the color and can’t wait to get another pair in another style or color.

Be sure to head over to VIM & VIGR and pick up a pair of compression socks for yourself.  You won’t regret it, I promise you.  While I received this product without cost in exchange for my honest review and unbiased opinion, I am telling you the truth about these compression socks – they feel great and are stylish at the same time! Hey, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog site in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, great blog!
