Venice on a Sunday

On most weekends we frequently visit BGC (Bonifacio Global City) to let our kids spend the afternoon playing in the manicured lawns. While it's fun to see the kids play in the playground in this highly urbanized district, it's not somewhere I would want to be on a weekly basis . This is the reason why we searched for other places that we can take our kids.

Then came the opening of Venice Piazza  in the heart of McKinley Hill. I can’t exactly recall how many time we’ve visited this place. As the name suggest, its architecture is inspired by the popular and celebrated Italian city of Venice. It’s quite smaller compare to that of the BGC but what I like about it’s  a perfect to spot to hangout and one of the less crowded places on a weekends.

 We also noticed the ongoing construction of Grand Canal. Just like the real thing, one can ride the gondola guided by the singing gondoliers dressed in the usual striped shirt. It’s the closest thing one can get to Venice minus the romanticism when you’re with the kids. If you’re familiar with the St. Marks de Campanille, they also have a replica of that imposing bell tower here.

Aside from the interesting design, a big hit with our kids is the pigeon feeding. While seating on a bench watching our kids on the playground, the flock of pigeons go down on the park grounds. The kids who were busy playing awhile ago runs up and follow the trail of the pigeons. Isn’t that nice? It’s not everybody that one get the chance to see this adorable creature.

A visit to Piazza wouldn’t be complete without the food. There are number of restaurants here from modern Japanese to the authentic flavors of Thai or Vietnamese food. It’s like almost is everything here.  I’m really looking forward to go to Venice but for now a visit to Piazza will do.
