I find that robots make a wonderful subject matter as they seem to come with a built in freedom on how they should be drawn. 1. I demonstrated to students how to draw this old-fashioned robot. If you start with the head at the top of the paper, and make the feet touch the bottom, you will end up with a nice large drawing.
2. They traced the drawing with a black Sharpie marker.
3. The background was painted with liquid watercolor first, then the robot. The extra time it takes to paint around all the little shapes helps give it time to dry before painting the inside.
