United Petrol Stations Tech Up

Posted on the 30 September 2012 by Prepaidplans @prepaidplans

United Petrol launched a new phone and photo concept at its two prime service stations called Tech Up. Tech combines both Phone Up and Photo Up. Phone up offers customers a range of unlocked mobile phones and accessories at competitive pricing (just how competitive we will have to see). In addition you can recharge your mobile phone at any United Petrol station for many of the popular prepaid mobile providers.

“We have worked with our suppliers to bring our customers some of the latest and greatest handsets in the market, as well as some of the most budget and user friendly.

Under the Phone Up banner, the current range of 16 unlocked handsets will cater for every need, whether it be a high resolution camera, social networking, large memory capacity, or something as simple as a larger keypad for easier typing.

Photo UP
We have also installed a Kodak Print Kiosk at each site under the Photo UP banner. This will allow customers to print out their photographs in three different sizes, uploaded from a variety of peripherals, as well as I.D sized photographs.

The process is user friendly, with a touch screen and voice prompts to help customers upload their photos, choose the size and finish, and complete their order.”

What United are also doing is linking the phone promotions with discount fuel vouchers to entice customers into the stores buying their tech offers.

The challenge however will be getting more stores fitted with Tech Up and letting more customers know they exist. So far social media does not seem to have played a big enough role for United stores and their promotion. They are way behind the likes of 7Eleven with over 300,000 Facebook likes.
