UNESCO, renowned as a U.N subordinates have always look to initiate a better project throughout the world and such supportive attitude of UNESCO have made this organisation an integral part of UN that looks to take a part in world projects and prospects.This time around UNESCO has complimented Spice route project of Kerala tourism which would stimulate the ancient path for modern day travellers. As per the resource and the meeting UNESCO have decided to help the projects which holds the history of 2,000 years. Vinay Sheel Oberoi, India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, and Suman Billa, Secretary, Kerala Tourism, took part in a meeting which was held in UN agency’s headquarters in Paris last week.Francesco Bandarin, Assistant Secretary-General (Culture), UNESCO in his meeting with Billa strongly supported the cause of reviving Spice Route Project and also appreciated an idea of preserving a lost resort of their past. Billa who met with several other representatives or ambassadors of various nations like China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Oman, Brazil, Russia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and these counties who are associated with spice route seems to have agreed with an idea of a representative.A P Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Government of Kerala, showed his happiness for receiving a support from UNESCO and he is of view that the coming project would surely bring back the glory of Muziris.Archaeological evidences collected by the Kerala government in Muziris, near Kochi have come out as a motivation to the spice route project. The excavation has revealed a history and proved that the port has a history of two millennia before it shrouded into mystery. The project looks to share the important heritage with the 31 nations along the ancient route.Previously project had already received a green signal from UNWTO. Bandarin in his turn added that taking up the Project through the UNESCO and United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was a right decision.During its first phase UNESCO asked the tourism department of Kerala to set up an inscription by forming a small group of experts for drawing support from each of the 31 countries involved in the Project.The project is aiming towards sustainable tourism, and to do this they are aiding local communities in their development.Ref:
