Versailles, Indiana has a couple of absolutely really amazing buildings–and Tyson Auditorium is definitely on that list.

You also can’t help but notice it look very similar in design to another unique building in town, Tyson Temple United Methodist Church.

The Tyson Auditorium is really a grand space! When it was first built in the early 1950′s, it had more seating than there were people in the town!

Now that’s good planning. It also came in useful when the Milan Indians outgrew their home gym and had to hold games here at the Tyson Auditorium.

The last I heard, however, the outlook is not so good on this amazing building. The school corporation was consolidated in 2008. Although the town has ownership, well, that’s a lot of building for a small Indiana town to handle!

If you find yourself in Ripley County, you’ll want to head over to Versailles! Better yet–maybe you can come up with a way to save this bit of Indiana history.

Just down the street from Tyson Temple United Methodist Church, it’s easy to fit it all in.

Just don’t forget to tell ‘em that  little Indiana sent you!
