Two Men Killed As Gunmen “Unload” On Them As They Walked Into Church

Two men were killed by  gunmen as they were walking into church Sunday morning.  Pastor Pastor Reginald Bachus of Friendship Baptist Church of Chicago told authorities that the gunmen basically “unloaded” on the men.

Two men were walking up the steps to Friendship Baptist Church Sunday morning, about 11:15 a.m. One of the men was accompanied by his three sons, said the Pastor Bachus.

“They were on their way up the steps to the church and two gentlemen ran up from Jackson (Boulevard) and basically unloaded on them,” Bachus said.

According to the Chicago Tribune, a  46-year-old man was shot multiple times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 34-year-old man also was shot multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police and church members have said an usher, who was walking into the church with his three children, was among the two men killed.

The gunmen fled in a silver or gray SUV, officials said. Deputy Chief Al Nagode said the Chicago Police Department is dedicated to finding and arresting those responsible.

“The victims were going to church, two individuals came up and fired their weapons, striking the individuals,” Nagode told reporters.
