In an apparent move to cushion the impact of the Instagram’s withdrawal of the Twitter cards support, the micro-blogging site announces Twitter Filters which allows photo editing on the pictures uploaded to Twitter before tweeting.
Twitter tapped Aviary photo editing software for this service which has been used by other photo-sharing sites such as Flicker. Twitter’s move came few days after Instagram announced last week that it stopped the support to Twitter cards to direct its users to its website rather than seeing the Instagram pictures on Twitter messages.
Instagram’s move is geared towards gaining revenues on their site rather than allowing Twitter to benefit from Instagram features. Once a picture is uploaded to Twitter, an image editor shall open where some tools can be used to edit the images like the ones offered in Instagram. There are eight filters to choose from while users can also crop and further enhance the picture.
