Twenty Six

By Winyeemichelle
Turning 26 feels like a big deal and yet hurriedly not a big deal at all. When I was much younger, I remember imagining myself at 24 with a lovely country home, children, dogs, a cat and a husband. Oh, and a car. At 24! Whilst that is some people’s life, it certainly isn’t mine and despite those childhood dreams? I’m happy with that. But 26 does feel scarily adult-like.
I’m one of those people that absolutely loves their birthday. I suppose you’re in one of two camps when it comes to the B word, eh? I’m firmly a lover. Although I guess I’m not entirely in a rush to leave 25 - it’s been pretty damn awesome. I’ve slowly built up a business, launched my dream shop, gained a beautiful puppy and an even more handsome boyfriend, cemented friendships and traveled a TONNE. 25, you were the best yet.
This year of my life, I hope for many things. I hope to gradually build Honey + Chai, I hope to see even more of the world and globe-trot even further afield. I hope to see my friends much, much more. I hope I can add value to more people’s lives and I hope to truly nail the art of selflessness. I hope I can get a step closer to becoming a homeowner(!!) and, just maybe, I hope to sneak in another international move. I hope.
Thank you for all of the lovely well-wishes on Twitter and Instagram, too! You guys are the absolute best. I can’t believe some of you saw me turn 19 and are still about now!
