Yes, earlier this week it was my birthday (hip hip hooray) and whilst I know age is just a number and it's not something I'm going to dwell on - let's face it, I'll probably be telling people I'm 24 if they ask anyway - it has made me think.

I guess it relates back to this post about taking a more positive approach, but I feel like with each birthday there's a different direction I'm heading in. This year, I'm not sure what that direction is, but it's certainly different to where I was standing when I just turned twenty four. Not just because I spent that birthday morning in the Lake District, so of course I quite literally was in a different location, but in myself I feel... different. A good different.

Since I'm at the halfway point in my twenties now (or quarter of a century as I keep being told) I feel like things could go in a couple directions. I could stay where I am and settle, but I don't want to stagnate or miss an opportunity so you know I'm gonna go for the other option. The more dramatic one if you will, and take the chances that I'm fortunate enough to take whilst I'm young and I have no ties or responsibilities. I'm doing alright in this current freelancing & blogging situation and enjoy how flexible it is. Yeah it's sometimes a bit lonely spending days on my own and I might struggle to motivate myself sometimes, but it does mean I can hop on a train at the drop of a hat, or pop out for coffees and those darker nights we're heading into won't be an issue for photography when I can shoot during the day. I type this knowing that the last month or so I've been slacking a little, so I'm taking this moment to give myself a shake (not literally, but y'know) and set some goals.

Twenty five, the year of taking and making opportunities? I think so...
