Turn Old Phones Into A New iPad And Help Children With Autism

Turn old phones into a new iPad and help children with autism!

Would your kids benefit from an iPad? Perhaps they have special needs and you’ve read about all the Apps that can help children’s development?

Did you know that a Manchester autism charity will swap old mobile phones for an iPad?

Still interested? Then read on…

Liam is a loving, caring, funny, sensitive four year old with autism. His parents were certain that an iPad could help him.

Last summer they registered with Hearts and Minds, a charity which exchanges old mobiles for new technology. There’s lots of choice, but most families opt for the iPad.

165 old phones = 1 iPad

Does that sounds like a lot? Well it can be done and here’s Liam with the proof…

“It took us 7 months,” says Alison, Liam’s Mum. “But we had fabulous support from our nearest and dearest, who asked their friends and family too.”

Phones have also been collected through media appeals, from businesses, mobile phone shops, and even coffee mornings with the cakes priced in phones!

For children such as Liam, who have autism, an iPad can help with their communication, learning, organisation, fine motor skills, relaxation and behavior. Like many other kids on the spectrum, Liam has his obsessions – in his case space and the planets, and his Mum believes that the iPad will enable him to find out everything he wants to know, as well as helping him with his special subject: maths.

But you don’t have to have a child with autism to benefit from this scheme. Or even a child with special needs. ANY family can register to collect old phones.
