Trends To Look Out For This Summer

Trends To Look Out For This SummerIf, like me, you look out of your window and find it hard to believe that summer is on its way, it's likely that the longer days will be with us both before we realise, so it's high time we start to think about getting together our new summer collections. There are plenty of styles that are likely to become hot this summer, unlike the weather, probably. Whether you're the kind of fashion-follower who likes to get jazzy with the jewellery, or a clothes-conscious girl who loves to be both chic and classy, there's sure to be an up-coming style to suit you. Here I'll go through three of them.
    1. Beam Me Up, Scotty!

If you catch a Sci-Fi film or TV show on TV that was made in the 1970s, you'll notice it was thought we'd all be wearing clothes made from metallic fabrics in the future. Of course that was never likely to happen, especially here in Britain (too much rain), but metallic-influence colours like silver and shiny greys are a forthcoming trend, resulting in body-skimming looks. Check out the shimmering metallic colours  in the latest collections by Balmain and Antonio Berardi, and the iridescents in the clothes created by Tom Ford and Mark Jacobs for summer 2014.
    1. Deal Me In

I've always followed the casino look, which is quite handy as my boyfriend is quite a serious poker player and I one went all the way with him to Auckland to see him compete in an ANZPT (Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour) event there. I love the casino-look, as it marries simplicity with elegance – just a plain gown will do, as long as you embellish it with a couple of suitable accessories. For 2014 the look your granny might have adopted in the 1920s is back in fashion – pearl necklaces, earrings and a bracelet. The usual advice when it comes to casino jewelry is to keep it simple, but for 2014 it seems the message to be brighter and bolder is being sent out.
    1. Is It A Bird?

Superman famously wore his pants on the outside of his trousers, and this underwear-as-outwear notion is a forthcoming trend, as outlined in the collections put forwards for 2014 by Louis Vuitton, Prada and Miu Miu. It doesn't mean though that you dress as normal then pull your bra and pants on over the top of everything. Check out the latest collection by the Italian-born French fashion designer Giambattista Valli for Summer 2014, and in particular his range of dresses, tops and necklaces. So there you have it! All of the latest trends for Summer 2014 before the season is upon us - let me know in the comments below if you've done any summer fashion shopping yet!
