Traveling to…Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins

The favorite pastime of my father and I, is traveling to new places and photographing our journeys.

As I edited some photographs, from our recent trip Rivera Maya, Mexico, I found that our styles were quite similar. I couldn’t tell my work apart from my father’s, which is why I had to create two posts just for Chichen Itza. They all told a story of this ancient civilization, and the fact that these master pieces are still standing is amazing. What a great experience to travel and see one of the Wonders of the World. These photographs were just to beautiful to not share my experience with.

Going through photos of my recent trip to Riviera Maya, I was left in wonder, no pun intended, by these stunning photographs of Chichen Itza, the Mayan Ruins and can’t believe I had the opportunity to travel and see one of the wonder of the world. It is now, looking back, without the rush of a planned tour, that I notice the true beauty of these wonders.

These two images {above and below} were taken of the same corner of the Mayan ruin, but were taken by either my father or I. The same image but two completely different photographs, two opposite moods. The first, light and bright, like the morning, the second, darker moody, like a stormy evening. What I love most about this one is its rich contrast in colors from stone grays and blues, and deep green, and its bright lighting which heightens the intricate details.
