Verdant Works named Best Visitor Attraction

Dundee, famous for jute, jam and journalism, received a boost when jute museum Verdant Works was named Scotrail Best Visitor Attraction in the Central, Fife and Tayside regional final of the Scottish Thistle Awards.

Verdant Works celebrates its 20th birthday as a museum. A popular museum, most of the items in the museum are donated by residents of Dundee, runs various events such as family days, cinema screenings and more.

Paul Jennings, executive director with Dundee Heritage Trust, said:

"Jute was Dundee's industry, which makes Verdant Works Dundee's museum. But it's also a place for out-of-towners and tourists from further afield. We're proud to have received this Scottish Thistle Award. It's an extra birthday present in what's set to be an exciting year for Verdant Works."
