Top Ten 2016 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get Around To

Hello and welcome to my first Top Ten Tuesday of 2017.

Last year, I dropped the ball on this meme, and really all memes, but I thought I'd revive at least this one. I ended up with just nine books for this meme, not because I read everything else released last year, but because these books are the only ones I regret missing out on. You can be sure they ended up on my TBR list for 2017.

So, without much ado, here we go:

Today, the bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish have asked us to list top ten 2016 books I wanted to read but didn't get around to actually reading.

Top Ten 2016 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get Around To
  1. Empire of Storms by Sarah J.Maas - There was a brief period when I was obsessed with all things Sarah J.Maas. I binge-read the first 4 books of this Throne of Glass series (reviews here and here). But somehow after that, for the longest time I felt done with the series. Obviously I still intend to read this book, but I think a little break might not be too bad to give me some perspective on the series.
  2. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J.Maas - I loved the first book in the series (A Court of Thorns and Roses), but never got around to the second book that released last year. Probably, because the first one didn't end on a cliff-hanger. Still, I"ll probably be reading this book sometime in 2017.
  3. The Girls by Emma Cline - Every review I read of this book made me sure this is a book I want to read. But somehow, never got around to ordering it.
  4. The Vegetarian by Han Kang - I was intrigued by this book, but also intimidated because it seemed like an esoteric read. That's probably why I have yet to actually read it.
  5. The Trespasser by Tana French - I should expand this entry to include all Tana French books, since I haven't read even one. Always been meaning to, though.

  7. The Wrong Side of Goodbye by Michael Connelly - I was very excited when I read that Harry Bosch turns private eye in this book. But then I needed to catch up with the series, and so instead read The Burning Room instead.
  8. You Will Know me by Megan Abbott - A thriller about gymnastics that is on most top ten of 2016 book lists? How could I miss this one?
  9. The Association of Small Bombs by Karan Mahajan - I vaguely remember this book being offered up for review sometime earlier last year. I think I said no, or even more shamefully did not respond back. I remember being turned off by the cover and did not even bother about the blurb. And I've kicked myself ever since. I am now waiting for this book to appear on my library shelves.
  10. The Private Life of Mrs. Sharma by Ratika Kapur - This is pretty new, as it came out only in December last year I think. But this is the sort of book I'd lap up as soon as it releases. And inexplicably, I have sat on it.

So these are the books released in 2016 that I feel I have missed out on. Which 2016 published books did you read and enjoy? Which ones did you end up not reading?
