Tongue twisters have been an integral part of grammar and vocabulary books for a long time. But do you know the history? Well, it started with a woman called Mary Anning who used to live in 19th Century England. She made money by selling shells to wealthy people and originated the tongue twister, " She sells seashells on the seashore", which was popularized with a song in 1908.
According to MIT researchers, the toughest tongue twister is said to be "Pad kid poured curd pulled cod". However, according to the Guinness Book of World Records the crown goes to " The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick." No matter what is the toughest tongue twister, it has been proved that they can have a significant role to improve the English vocabulary and pronunciation.
