Top 10 Pizzas

Posted on the 04 August 2013 by Real Talk @talkrealdebate2012

I love pizzaThis week I am sharing my favorite pizzas.  I have included both freshly delivered and frozen pizzas.  Pizza is a guilty pleasure of mine (I can’t just say no).  I think pretty much everyone likes pizza.  Hopefully by the time you finish reading this list you will crave some “pies.”  If that’s the case then I’ve done my job :)

Please share your favorites with me and which topic you think I should consider for next’s week “Top 10.”

Giordano's Pizza

1.  Giordano’s Pizza

Giordano’s pizzeria is internationally known for its superb, stuffed pizza.  It is a staple on any list highlighting Chicago pizza delights.  What makes their stuffed crust pizza so good is the perfect ratio between crust, sauce, cheese and any additional ingredients.  There is a reason so many celebrities exclaim their love for the pizza whenever they visit the Windy City.

Gino's East Pizza

2.  Gino’s East

What makes Gino’s East pizza so delicious is their crust.  The secret to the crust is the addition of tartar and the fact the pizzeria lets the crust ferment overnight.  These techniques in tandem with other conventionally dough ingredients create a stellar tasting and looking crust.

Freschetta Pizza

3.  Freschetta

This is one my favorite frozen pizza brands.  Their rising crust selections are their tastiest.  Unlike many other frozen pizzas this one maintains a sense of freshness in a balanced creation.

Lou Malnati's

4.  Lou Malnati’s

Whenever you order “Lou’s” you should spend the extra 75 cents for the flaky, butter crust.  Trust me it’s worth it.   With a sauce made from vine-ripened tomatoes and a lean, unconventional sausage patty there’s much to love about this pizza.  It’s definitely worth a try.

Rosati's Pizza

5.  Rosati’s Pizza

This is my favorite thin-crust pizza.  While not as well-known as say Giordano’s this pizzeria holds its own.  If anything its under-the-radar greatness only means more pizza for me!

:)
The pizzeria owners really have perfected the art of making a pizza.

Pequod's

6.  Pequod’s

The Morton Grove pizzeria is well-known for its thick, golden crust with caramelized edges.  Pequod’s is one of the more popular pizzerias in the area and for good reason.  It may not be the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it certainly is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten.  Trust me, when it comes to pizza I have a pretty good repertoire in that department.

7.  Connie’s Pizza

Connie’s is my favorite frozen pizza.  With a thin-crust and a sweet sauce each bite is heavenly.  My only warning is that it is quite addictive so be careful.  Before you know it, you’ve eaten half the pizza and your family is staring at you in anger.

Domino's Pizza

8.  Domino’s Pizza

I think Domino’s has done a great job in changing their past-greasy pizza into one of the better selections in the congested market.  The buttery and thick crust marks a tasty delight.  I think the company really has tried to taken consumer reviews into account in altering its menu.  While you are ordering make sure to get some stuffed cheesy bread.  I’m salivating just thinking about it.

Burt's Place

9.  Burt’s Place

Burt Katz is in my opinion the “Soup Nazi” of pizza.  The 73 year-old pizza maker (and previous owner of Pequod’s) has perfected the art and science of making a scrumptious pizza.  Burt buys his vegetables every morning from the market.  He makes each and every pizza he sells.  His pizza may not look the best, but it is without hesitation a must-have whenever in the Morton Grove area.

Homemade Pizza

10.   Homemade Pizza

My favorite pizza is my family’s homemade pizza.  As pizza aficionados we have created the ideal pizza.  With a perfect combination of crust, sauce and ingredients it truly has the markings of excellence (and yes I know I sound slightly conceited lol).  There is a secret ingredient to our crust that really sets it apart from the rest.  While we don’t make pizza as often as we would like (it’s time-consuming) it remains my favorite.

What do you think of my list?
