Three Ways Wear Your Summer Dress in Autumn/Winter

Happy Wednesday Friends! It's finally starting to get chilly in Texas which means some kind of seasonal change. I never completely get rid of my Summer pieces because the weather here is so unpredictable. Instead, there is a lot of layering and exchanging of accessories which are the perfect ways to wear a Summer dress in Autumn or Winter!

This gorgeous floral maxi dress has been worn to The Reformation store opening in Dallas, a Polished Fort Worth panel luncheon, and church. The looks have slightly varied with different accessories, but the main focus has always been the dress! Now that it's cold, it will still be worn but with warmer accoutrements!

THE STYLE Rx: My weather transition tips are pretty simple! Add a jacket and swap out sandals for boots. That's what I do most often!

FIRST WAY //

This is the easiest way to transition a Summer dress in my opinion! Top it off with a jacket and wear boots. With the moto jacket and studded booties, it definitely gives off an edgy vibe. For a more sophisticated take, you could try a wool blazer and suede booties. Or channel your inner Sporty Spice with a bomber jacket and Adidas Superstars! (I say those sneakers because they've been my go-to lately, but any comfy sneakers would do!)

SECOND WAY //

Another alternative would be to wear a layering turtleneck under the dress with tall boots. Throw on another layer, like a utility vest or fur vest, for added warmth! You can always belt it (as shown here) to create a waistline if the layers get too bulky.

THIRD WAY //

Finally, you can try this trick to make it look like you're wearing a sweater and a separate skirt. 1) Put on a belt - medium thickness is probably best. 2) Put on a sweater! 3) Half-tuck the sweater into the belt! Voila!

Hope y'all learned something new about transitioning a Summer Dress in three different ways. How do YOU transition Summer clothing? Or do you completely swap out and have a capsule wardrobe? I'd love to hear about it!

BTW, please accept my apology for the lack of posts on Monday and this late post today. The struggle IS REAL over here with teething and lack of sleep. I've been burning the candles at both ends. Mr. S told me that what I was doing wasn't sustainable. Boy, he was right. My body told me to STOP IT, and I'm so exhausted. I haven't been able to get up early because of the interrupted nights. Anyhow, I'm working on getting back to a sleep equilibrium and paying back my sleep debt (which may be years). However, I'm trying to practice "self-care" because I have to be able to take care of myself so that I can take care of my family!

If you have any self-care tips, then please share!
