May is a month of love and I would like to celebrate it with three of my poems, written several years ago.
Der Augen-Blick
The moment is a rapture
of two selves,
in unison,
yet separately ―
While both pretend,
that neither
has witnessed
the event.
Die Gelassenheit
Love is about protecting
each other’s solitude,
said Rilke.
Love is about watching the other blossom
without needing to be a part of it ―
immediately.
Love is about
loving the self in the other,
about loving the other in the self,
and about overcoming the need
to fuse the two.
Love is about nurturing
the otherness of the other,
and the sameness of the self.
Above all,
love is about letting go,
so that you and I can go our separate,
yet mutually interested ways ―
in peace,
in Gelassenheit.

We must not delay loving people;
they depart ever so quickly...
