Three-Legged Tortoise Gets LEGO-Inspired Prosthetic Leg

When this poor little legless Tortoise, Schildi was found by the folks at German veterinary clinic “Bird Consulting International,” they went out of their way to help this innocent guy to walk again. They not only gave this three-legged Tortoise a new leg, but also seems to have helped speed up his walking pace.

Unlike most other animals, there are no prosthetic materials made for turtles, so the veterinarian Panagiotis Azmanis, whom I assume a big fan of LEGO, put his creativity to make a great prosthetic leg for this Tortoise out of a LEGO brick and a wheel. And he has glued the bionic leg under the tortoise’s shell.

Clearly, this prosthetic leg is not going to help Schildi walk in mud areas or go for a swim. But, at least now he can walk around most other places faster than before. I feel like this is one of those moments you can say “Faith in humanity has been restored!”
