Posted on the 06 March 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

A while ago we reported about an amazing 3D computer that allows users to touch and interact with its’ digital content. Well, ever since then the development team has been working too hard to make some pretty impressive improvements to this amazing device. And they’ve officially unveiled this amazing computer at the recent TED conference in Los Angeles, showing off the awesome features.

People behind this 3D computer, Jinha Lee and Cati Boulanger calls this the “SpaceTop 3D computer”. This couple of Microsoft researchers have used a Samsung transparent OLED screen as a monitor and few built-in cameras inspired by Kinect technology to detect the user’s movements  and allow them to control files, folders, apps and more by virtually touching them. Check out the videos after the jump to get a clear idea about this concept.

“The gap between what the designer thinks and what the computer can do is huge. If you can put your hands inside the computer and handle digital content you can express ideas more completely”  Lee told BBC.

Clearly this awesome creation changes the way we use computers. And it could probably be the game-changing technology that would allow us to use a computer like in the ‘Minority Report’ in the very near future.
