The Waste Lands by @StephenKing

By Pamelascott

Roland, the Last Gunslinger, is moving ever closer to the Dark Tower, which haunts his dreams and nightmares. Pursued by the Ageless Stranger, he and his friends follow the perilous path to Lud, an urban wasteland. And crossing a desert of damnation in this macabre new world, revelations begin to unfold about who - and what - is driving him forward.

The Waste Lands is another of my favourites from The Dark Tower. This packs up straight after the events of The Drawing of the Three and sets the stage for the rest of the series. I still have five books to read but I'm going to miss this world and characters when I reach the end. I really should revisit it more. This books shows how brilliant a writer King is how, how innovative as Roland's world and our world are shown to be intrinsically linked. There are two standout sequences in this book, when Jake from The Gunslinger is drawn to Roland's world at the start and when the group encounter Blaine, the insane train in the final pages. Wizard and Glass is next, my least favourite book in the series.
