The Running Buddy – Gear Review

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

One night when I was browsing through Facebook, I saw a product called the Running Buddy listed in my newsfeed. Then a few minutes later I saw someone talking about it in one of my running groups, and then once again on one of my personal friend's wall.... it was like an suddenly the product was everywhere and I had never heard of it!

I definitely wanted to know more so I emailed the company, shared my blog with them and asked them if they'd be interested in letting me review the product, to which they agreed!

Back when I was young - no, just kidding, back in 2009 when I had lost a bunch of weight and was thinner and running 5-6 days a week, I had a nice pair of shorts that had pockets that held everything I would need to go run. Once I began to recover from my near fatal car accident in 2012, I realized I had gained a bunch of weight (number undisclosed intentionally) and I would need new running equipment. I went from "minimalist" shoes to "maximalist" shoes, I went up a couple sizes in shirts, shorts and everything in between.

Unfortunately, I could never find running shorts like my old ones, so I started on a quest of finding the perfect product to hold my iPod, iPhone, gels, lip balm, ID, or whatever else I thought I needed to carry. At first, I started with various belts that had a big zippered pocket in the front and you could attach things on the side, and slowly I graduated to a product that I could wear under my shirt. It seemed to take away from the huge beer-belly look and I felt that I was satisfied.

I found much success in this product...... until something very important fell out of the pocket of it and I was devastated. Now, I rarely carry things in fear that I might lose something, so there are too many races I come up wishing I had a gel or a cough drop or lip balm or something that I didn't bring.

This translates to the fact that it might be time for a change in carrying pouches and then the Running Buddy arrived. I was a little worried about whether or not it might feel bulky - that is, until I put it on for a run! The company sent me the standard sized pouch, called the Buddy Pouch. This product comes in three colors, solid black, black with yellow trim or black with pink trim. It's a very straightforward product as far as design and how to wear it as you can see below.

The pouch didn't bounce around at all, and the magnet that keeps it attached to your waistband is unbelieveably strong. This thing did not move, and I was shocked. I filled it up thinking it might make a difference if it was full, but that wasn't the case. I was also afraid it might tug at my waistband and pull my pants downward, but that didn't happen either.

The standard Buddy Pouch is 6″ long and 4″ tall. It is lightweight, and chafe-free and has a water-resistant inner pocket. The Buddy Pouch is made with dri-fit and water resistant fabrics and fits essentials like your iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S V, and other popular phones similarly sized. You can carry your phone, keys, cash, credit cards, gels, inhalers, allerjects and other products sweat-free and dry.

Running Buddy carries two other sized pouches, first is the Buddy Pouch 6+, which comes in solid black and black with pink trim. This pouch is made to fit the iPhone 6+ and phones such as the Galaxy Note or the Google Nexus and is 6-3/4″ long and 4″ tall. The other pouch is the Buddy Mini, which comes in three colors, solid black, solid pink or solid blue. This one holds your basic essentials such as hotel keys, your ID, gels and iPod and is a much smaller 3-3/4″ long by 4″ tall.

They sell the pouches in various package deals, all of which are very affordable. I also noticed they sell a single earphone device along with a device to hold your phone in your hand. I didn't look into those products, but if you check out their website you'll see the package deals and other products! Be sure to check out their Facebook page too!

If I have something important to carry, I'll definitely be using this product, and I'm sure once you try it, you'll be using it too.
