Proverbs 5 Poster Girl Paris Hilton

I recently watched one of her videos and I was aghast.  She gives me chills.  Not the good kind.  You might be distracted by her body, but you can see it in her eyes.  She is a dead woman walking. She might last another ten or fifteen years, but–unless she experiences a profound spiritual awakening–I can’t imagine her living to a ripe old age.  She is trouble.  She is death.  She strikes me as arrogantly godless.

There are several verses in the Bible that warns young men about the kind of woman to avoid.  Paris Hilton strikes me as the poster girl for Proverbs 5:1-13:

1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight,
that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.
For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;
but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.
She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.
Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house,
lest you lose your honor to others and your dignity to one who is cruel,
10 lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich the house of another.
11 At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, “How I hated discipline!  How my heart spurned correction!
13 I would not obey my teachers or turn my ear to my instructors.

Here’s the video of Paris Hilton that reminded me of Proverbs 5.  The road to Hell is not only paved with “good intentions,” it’s also paved with “good times”.  Here, Paris sings, brags about, her “good times”.  I wonder if she knows where these “good times” are taking her.

There was a time in my life when Paris Hilton might’ve seemed almost irresistible. The time is gone, thank God.  Today, I see a woman who seems to be dancing straight into Hell, grinning all the while and enticing others to join her.  She makes me want to run and hide.  .
