The Power of Coconut Oil..

By Beautybliss @BeautyBliss14

The power of Coconut Oil is something that isn’t hyped enough! The amount of useful things you can do with this beauty is enough to keep anyone happy…

I thought it might be helpful to compile a list of a few of the benefits of this natural oil that I have been loving for a while and the different ways you can use it:

Benefits for your hair:

If your hair is feeling a little glum and needs a bit of extra love and care, take a small amount of coconut oil and apply, concentrating mainly on the ends, making sure not to put too much on, as this can become very greasy and hard to remove when washing! (Believe me, I’ve been there, it isn’t fun and you end up looking like you have bathed in grease for a week!). Coconut oil comes in a solid substance, but when rubbed between your hands it easily turns into a liquid, making it much easier to apply. You can leave it in over night, or just for a few hours. You may need to wash a couple of times, due to the oil being quite thick, but the benefits afterwards will be worth it as you will have luscious, shiny and soft locks to show off!

Benefits for your skin:

The thought of applying a relatively thick oil on your face, may be a bit daunting, especially if you have oily skin! However this oil has many beneficial qualities for the skin and face. Make sure to use Pure Virgin Coconut Oil, basically an organic version. It does cost more, but it’s worth it and won’t clog up your pores! The brilliant thing about this oil is that it is a moisturizer, antibiotic, multivitamin, anti-aging, anti wrinkle and anti-oxidant – all in one!

Coconut oil is a massively effective treatment for acne and the great thing is that it is natural, so you aren’t putting any nasties onto your skin, which would defeat the object of trying to help and soothe it! To apply, clean your face and then add a light coating on to your skin, leave this on overnight but make sure to leave the oil absorb onto the skin for about 15 minutes before going to bed. Repeat every night, until you get the desired results.

You can also make an Exfoliating Facial Scrub, using half baking soda and half coconut oil. Massage this on to your face and rinse off with warm water and enjoy a natural way to gain a fresh and happy face!

Benefits for your cooking:

Coconut oil isn’t just beneficial for your hair and skin, it is also edible and makes a much healthier oil to cook with. Use this as a substitute for vegetable or olive oil in some of your favourite recipes, especially curries and Thai food!

Coconut oil helps with weight loss, as it naturally increases your metabolism and also helps to keep unnecessary stress off your pancreas, which helps to burn more energy and reduce weight. It’s also quite tasty too!

Cooking with coconut oil is also beneficial for your heart and can help to reduce the chances of you getting heart disease. Coconut oil contains 50 percent lauric acid, which is also known to help control conditions like high cholesterol and high blood pressure!

So, from these few points, you can easily see what a treat coconut oil is for the whole of your body! So what are you waiting for? Jump onto the coconut oil loving bandwagon and treat your lovely selves!
