The Paisley Print - L'imprimé Cachemire

By Marta @fashion_caramel
I remember when paisley prints were everywhere in the 90s, I remember ties, scarves and if I'm not mistaken I think I even had a paisley print shirt in a mix of mustard yellow, green and purple. Yes, it was ugly, but bear with me, I was a fickle teenager hesitating between grunge (Pearl Jam was everything to me) and reggae (I told you I was fickle) and my style reflected my unability to choose between the two. Let's say that I didn't have my best fashion moments in the 90s and paisley brings back all these memories. So when I saw that paisley was back my first reaction was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh !!!!! Spring Summer 12 Stella Mccartney, Jill Sander, Matthew Williamson, Thakoon (source: style.com) Now I cooled down and decided to give paisley a second chance. Not because I suddenly like it more but because this doesn't seem to be a one-shot trend, it is as present in Fall collections as it was in the Spring and Summer ones which means that paisley will probably just get bigger and difficult to escape from. Fall Winter 12/13: Etro, Derek Lam, Arthur Mendonça and Naeem Kahn (source: style.com and torontolife.com) In case you are already convinced and loving paisley, you might like my selection here. From top left: red tank (topshop) & shorts (topshop), Jill Sander top (mytheresa), J.W.Anderson top (thecorner), trousers (topshop), Jill Sander pouch (net-a-porter), Matthew Williamson top (net-a-porter), dress (newlook), wedges (asos) I personally will wait for the fall collections as looking by the runways the fall paisley prints seem more cool and easy to wear. How about you, how do you see the paisley trend ? Love or hate ? Have a great weekend ! xx
