ABOUT THE BOOK:
Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome;
2) A person’s undoing;
3) Joshua Templeman.
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

MY REVIEW:
The Hating GameThe Hating Game by Sally Thorne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne is a 2016 William Morrow publication.
Totally engaging, witty, and one of the most original enemies to lovers stories I’ve read in a long while.
For Lucy and Josh it’s a case of insta-hate, when they are forced to work together after their respective publishing houses merge.
Lucy is so nice and laugh out loud funny, as opposed to the cold hearted, straight laced, and ruthless, Josh.
The two play ‘games’ with each other all day with the express purpose of getting under each other’s skin. It’s deliciously fun!

But, things become very serious when they find themselves competing for the same promotion. The two very ambitious rivals begin the ultimate showdown, but the stakes are higher than they ever imagined! So, let the games begin!!
I saw so many positive ratings and rave reviews for this book, I just had to read it for myself. Thanks GR friends for bringing this book to my attention. I loved it!!
Enemies to Lovers tropes can be hard on the emotions sometimes, but this one was simply divine. Josh’s exterior and horrible reputation pitted against Lucy, the nice girl who deserves a nice guy is the perfect juxtaposition. Both characters give as good as they get, and both play dirty pool.
I could never tell who was edging ahead in the ‘or something’ game, and of course loved the way our girl Lucy showed some real character, risking it all, knowing she is fighting for her career and her heart.
Josh… well, despite first impressions, he’s is definitely the stuff ‘book boyfriends’ are made of. Your heart will melt right along with his. He’s is simply irresistible.
The dialog is delightful!! Lucy’s wit and humor play perfectly against Josh’s straight man prose, making the friction sizzle between them all the more.
I read this book in one sitting, it was so good! If you enjoy contemporary romance that is just as fun as it is sexy, with two amazing protagonist you can cheer for, look no further.. You are going to love this one!
