In direct contrast to the Angry Pedestrian’s diatribes against all that is not sanguine in the usually very inconvenient and dangerous reality of walking in a car-ruled society comes the Happy Pedestrian’s blithe extemporaneous excursions about the joys of walking; the joys, indeed, of being a pedestrian. The Angry Pedestrian was anonymous but the Happy Pedestrian is…well, it’s me. I’ll be writing about the conveniences and advantages of living in Manhattan from a pedestrian’s point of view.

Having moved here 3 months ago, I’ve started to get acquainted with the city and how easy it is get around by public transportation, biking, and walking. While there are bound to be frustrations of being a walker even in perhaps the only city in the U.S. actually made for walking, this series aims to bring something positive to that unique, though taken for granted gift we have for walking. I’ll be posting from time to time so make sure to check back. All the articles will be found at the The Happy Pedestrian tag.
