The Greatest Star Gives First Ever Concert in Amsterdam

By Amsterdam City Tours

Barbra-Streisand-2013-582"I'm the greatest star!" Fanny Brice proclaims in what is possibly one of the most memorable moments in the musical Funny Girl. The same could be said of the actress who originated the role on Broadway and again in the film version.

Barbara Streisand is one of the greats. Even now, at age 71, she's a force to be reckoned with. In addition to her comeback to the silver screen with Ben Stiller and Dustin Hoffman in the last two films in the Meet the Parents trilogy and most recently with Seth Rogen in The Guilt Trip, she's back on tour in Barbara Streisand Live.

And, believe it or not, her June 6 concert at the Ziggo Dome was the first time Ms. Streisand had ever performed in Amsterdam. The singer performed to a full orchestra and, aside from an outstanding performance by Ms. Streisand, the audience was treated to guest appearances by Christ Botti, her son Jason Gould, and her sister Roslyn Kind.

Tickets went on sale on April 12 and demand was so high, a second concert was added for this evening, June 10.

As for Ms. Streisand, she seems to be making the most out of her Amsterdam visit, checking out famous sites like the Anne Frank House and the newly renovated Rijksmuseum.

She and her dog, Teddy Hilton, (you can't expect a girl to go on a world tour without a dog now, can you?) are staying at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. As expected, fans have camped out there to catch a glimpse of the singer/songwriter/actress/director/author/writer/film producer/philanthropist. And she even took the time to sign her autograph for several lucky fans.

Other firsts on this tour for Ms. Streisand were Tel Aviv, Israel and Cologne, Germany. The tour also marks her first time back in London in six years.
