The Girl Who Chased the Moon by @SarahAddisonAll

By Pamelascott

Emily Benedict came to Mullaby, North Carolina, hoping to solve at least some of the riddles surrounding her mother's life. Why did she leave her hometown so suddenly? Why did she vow never to return?

But in a place where unexplained lights skip across the yard at midnight, where the wallpaper in your bedroom changes so suit your mood, and where a neighbour bakes hummingbird cakes in the hope of bringing back a lost love, Emily will find that the answers are not what she expects.

This is my first time reading the author. It won't be my last.

Emily is a great character. I really felt for her. She returns to the town where her mother grew up hoping to understand her a bit more. What she uncovers is life altering. I felt like I was in Mullaby, with Emily, getting to know the locals, trying to bond with her grandfather and trying to find answers to so many questions. The locals are suspicious of Emily because they bear her mother a grudge, for something cruel she did so many years ago, something they misunderstood. When Emily finds out the truth it took be my surprise. The Girl Who Chased the Moon is delightful filled with love, magic and mystery.
