The frames return to the Public Garden!

Take a photo and share your masterpiece with the world

You may have noticed a familiar sight in the Public Garden these past few days: people snapping photos of friends, family members, even pets with the help of large picture frames along the lagoon edge. On November 2, the Friends of the Public Garden installed three frames in the Garden that swivel 360 degrees, allowing you to capture your own unique masterpieces. This year, we've changed things up a bit and installed a frame at a lower height to accommodate your littler ones, including dogs! After snapping your photos, please post them online and tag #FOPG (find us on Instagram at @friendsofthepublicgarden) so even more people can enjoy your work of art. There are two frames on the Beacon Street side of the lagoon and one on the Boylston Street end.

Three pictures frames will be present in the Public Garden beginning November 2, 2017, to mid-December 2017, weather permitting.

In the fall of 2014, the Friends installed three frames in the Public Garden as part of a visibility campaign. The following year, the frames found a temporary home on Boston Common. Hundreds posed inside the frames, as well as used the frames to capture beautiful vistas of the parks. The frames took a vacation to the Eustis Estate in Milton over the summer, and now they are back in the Public Garden again.

The Public Garden is a beautiful greenspace in the heart of Boston, and the Friends partners with the City of Boston to renew, care, and advocate for the Public Garden as well as the Boston Common and Commonwealth Avenue Mall, spending over $1 million each year in the parks on tree, turf, and sculpture care. This spring, we completed the $400,000 restoration of the George Robert White Memorial Fountain, including bringing the water back to a long-dry fountain, plaza repairs, and renovations to the surrounding landscape.
