I really enjoyed the first book, Carve the Mark when I read it a few weeks ago and wanted to know how it all worked out. This book has the same structure, moving between four very different characters to tell the same story from very different views. The book is very slow paced but this worked for me as I could take my time to really absorb it all. The story is even better in this one, more rounded and some plot holes are filled. This book is a lot darker at times. The characters are more fleshed out. There are a lot of twists and turns and just when I thought I had a grasp of what was going on another twist was executed.
