The Comptoir Canailles in the 9th is a place I came to a month ago with my pal from the 9th and we both loved it; so today I went with Colette and two friends from the 17th.  Colette loved the decor and asked me to comment on it and I noted that the carte was almost totally changed.  What to have?

The amuse bouche was a squash soup with chestnut mousse and bits, then for firsts, Colette passed, Madame had a poached egg with cepes and a salade amère and my male pal and I had chopped bulots with creamy corn and chorizo bits.

For mains we had:
- a lovely risotto with wood mushrooms and hazelnuts
- a poitrine of porc with an apple/celery puree
- cod with leeks and
- one of the nicest aged pieces of beef with mushrooms & potatoes I've ever had.

For dessert we shared magnificent pieces of pain perdu and figs, followed by mini-madeleines.

With no bottled water and 2 bottles and glasses of wine, our bill was 191 E, thus 95.50 E a couple.
