Tennis Stars Emma Raducanu, Leylah Fernandez, Naomi Osaka, and Many More Shined Bright at the 2021 Met Gala

By Jen Campbell @TennisLife_Mag

Tennis stars dazzled at this year's Met Gala event in New York, which coincidentally was co-chaired by 4-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka.

The 2021 US Open teen finalists Leylah Fernandez and Emma Raducanu were in attendance, as well as Serena and Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and a handful of others.

These are just some of the photos we found online, but they were the best of what was available so soon after the event :-)

Enjoy!

Emma Raducanu

After making herstory at the 2021 US Open by winning 10 consecutive matches and becoming the first-ever qualifier to win a major title, 18-year-old Raducanu made her fashion red carpet debut wearing a black and white ensemble from Chanel's 2021/2022 Cruise Collection.

What a Cinderella story, indeed!

Leylah Fernandez

Though she came in second to Raducanu at the 2021 US Open, the 19-year-old Canadian is a real winner in this gorgeous black and white silk cocktail dress from Carolina Herrera's Spring/Summer 2022 Collection. It was actually inspired by the dresses Serena and Venus one wore for a Vogue shoot!

Naomi Osaka

The 4-time Grand Slam champion and fashionista Naomi Osaka paid tribute to her Japanese/Haitian heritage in her Louis Vuitton gown that featured print designs by her sister.

She completed her look with a modern spin on Geisha makeup and a wild hairstyle accented with red sparkles.

Serena Williams

The GOAT of women's tennis stayed true to the night's theme, "American Independence", as she rocked the red carpet wearing Gucci from head to toe. Underneath her pink, black, and white striped cape, Serena wore a form-fitting silver bodysuit sprinkled with pink stars. Even hubby Alexander Ohanian cleaned up nicely in his black tux and stylish do.

Venus Williams

The 7-time Grand Slam winner didn't need dramatic effects to mark her appearance at the event. Queen Vee was simply stunning in her raspberry red strapless gown from Prabel Garung.

Maria Sharapova

The former world No. 1 was glamorous as always in her mustard-colored dress made just for her by Gabriela Hearst.

Sloane Stephens

Mizz Stephens literally stopped traffic on the way to the Met Gala in her billowing red gown by Aliétte, and strappy heels by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanovic

This is the ONLY photo online (so far) of the gorgeous couple attending the Met Gala. It's awesome that so many celebrities photobombed it, lol!

matteo berrettini and lorde in the same met gala photo is the tennis x pop culture crossover I never saw coming 🪦 https://t.co/d97WSPOfwZ

Felix Auger-Aliassime

The world No. 11 was looking quite dapper in his white tuxedo with black tie. He was there with his golden girl, Nina Ghaibi, who happens to be Ajla Tomljanovic's cousin. Small world, am I right?
