Tennis Predictions For The WTA Grand Slam Season Ahead

By Thetennistipster @Tennis_Tipster

For many casual tennis fans, the months of March and April can seem like something of a fallow period in the WTA calendar. The Australian Open is long past and the French at the end of May seems like it is an age away, making it seem like there is a big hole in the season if you are not a fan who follows the far-flung tour events.

With all of the above in mind then, it seems like the perfect time to cast our minds forward to the remaining grand slams of the year and to keep those casual fans’ minds occupied with some grand slam tennis predictions for the rest of the season. BTW, as a grand slam approaches, I always check out the tennis previews and predictions at Stevegtennis.com.

They have some great head to head analysis of all the interesting matches in each round and also tennis live scores at this link.

The French Open Preview

The annual tennis showpiece in the French capital is indeed the next slam on the agenda and when it comes to the women’s draw it is one of the more difficult to judge when making tennis predictions.

Eugenie Bouchard

Eugenie Bouchard

Serena Williams will undoubtedly be the bookies favorite for Roland Garros, as she will probably be for every event she enters, but the first of our grand slam tennis predictions is that the American will suffer a shock early exit in Paris. That is not to say that we buy into the idea that Serena’s career is on the decline but clay is undoubtedly a less favoured surface for her and the dominant player might well have more of an eye on triumphs at Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows this year.

If the tournament favorite does fail to take the title at Roland Garros then, that opens the door for a host of other players to potentially take a precious grand slam crown. The last of our French open tennis predictions with that in mind, is that in 2015 we will see a brand new slam winner in Paris. There are a number of great players who are still looking for their first grand slam title, and one of Simona Halep, Eugenie Bouchard or Garbine Muguruza might just end their wait in early June.

Wimbledon Preview

Heather Watson

Heather Watson

Serena Williams will avenge her disappointing 2014 display at the All England Club and take yet another Wimbledon title. That might not be the most off-piste of tennis predictions but it is an important one, as it would mean that Serena will finally move ahead of her sister onto six titles at SW19.

As is always the case at the All England Club however, there will likely also be some more unexpected impressive performance and there are a few players who might just pop up as the stars of the 2015 event.

Britain haven’t had a great deal to cheer about in the women’s draw at Wimbledon in recent years, but 2015 could be the season where Heather Watson delivers at least a couple of wins on the Wimbledon grass to cheer the home faithful. One woman who does love her trips to west London is popular German player Sabine Lisicki, so don’t be surprised if she makes a deep run once again too.

The US Open Preview

Agnieska Radwanska

Agnieska Radwanska

It would be boring for our grand slam tennis predictions to round out by forecasting another Serena Williams win, wouldn’t it? It is incredibly difficult however, to see any other result at Flushing Meadows unless the all-powerful American suffers injury problems at her home slam.

Whilst it is difficult to predict any winner other than Williams, the US Open could provide an opportunity for one or two players who have suffered difficult spells of their careers of late to enjoy a resurgence. Look out for Agnieska Radwanska and Caroline Wozniacki then, to achieve impressive results at Flushing Meadows and maybe to even take a victory or two over the more fancied players at the event.

For all of the above Grand Slams, Stevegtennis will be doing a bracket challenge draw pick game which is great fun so enter here:
