Teaser Tuesdays: Sharp Objects

Posted on the 28 February 2017 by Cheekymeeky

I've been reading Sharp Objects - Gillian Flynn's début novel, and I am torn at how much I admire her dreamy, descriptive writing style, and how repulsed I am by some of the goings-on in this book.

However, I take pity on you and share a lighter teaser from the book that also illustrates Flynn's clever way of setting a scene.

The watering hole closest to my mom's house was an expensive, glassy box that specialized in salads and wine spitzers, Wind Gap's sole upscale eatery.

It was brunch-time, and I couldn't stand the thought of Alan and his soupy eggs, so I walked myself over to La Mere. My French only goes to eleventh grade, but judging from the restaurant's aggressively nautical theme, I think the owners meant to name it La Mer, The Sea, and now La Mere, The Mother.

Have you read this book? What did you think of it?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Teaser Tuesdays: Sharp Objects
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
