In observance of the Holy Week, I am taking a break from my work and my blog. Take note, this is not a vacation. I am not going out of town or country to spend my summer vacation.
Though I have to admit it is quite tempting because I haven't had a proper vacation for a long time. But this is a period of moderation, fasting, repentance, and spiritual discipline. It is the time to reflect on the sufferings and sacrifices of Jesus Christ. Thus, I will have a proper vacation at the right time.
For now, I am looking forward to rest and recharge my mind, body, and soul in preparation for Maundy Thursday. In the evening of that day is the Visita Iglesia or "church visit". We visit seven churches to pray before the Blessed Sacrament and the Way of the Cross. The Way of the Cross has 14 stations. Since we visit seven churches, we pray two stations on each one.
Then on Good Friday, we listen to the "Siete Palabras" which ends around 3pm. When the clock strikes 3pm, it's the moment of silence which signifies the death of Jesus. After an hour or so, we usually watch religious films and avoid anything that is not related to the Lenten season.
And just like previous years, I will be back on Easter and will share with you my journey. For the meantime, I have compiled a list of blogs you might want to read.
