You can find a subscription box service for whatever your heart desires from pet s, sporting goods, foods and even for survivalists. Of course my favorites are always the fashion, hair and beauty boxes. In the past, I've found that many of the beauty and hair boxes out there are either hit or miss when it comes to diversifying the products selections. Beauty boxes for women of color and multi-cultural women are finally on the rise.
I joined my first subscription box service a couple of years ago but soon became disappointed when I repeatedly received products that just weren't complementing to my hair type or my skin tone. I ended up giving a lot of those products away and cancelled my subscription after the first three months. Recently, the team at Cocotique kindly sent their 2-Year Anniversary box for review and as soon as I popped the lid, I knew I was in for a treat.
Cocotique is a deluxe beauty box service that includes 6-8 hair, skin, makeup, fragrance and lifestyle samples each month. Each box is carefully curated to specifically meet the needs of women of color. The September box was a celebration of their 2-year anniversary which included a free 1-year subscription to Hype Hair magazine and several full-sized products.

OMG, this stuff right here is amaze-balls! Shea Moisture is one of my favorite natural hair and beauty brands and I absolutely love their Superfruit bubble bath and body wash. It has the most heavenly, sweet smell that will linger around in the bathroom for quite a while. The massage oil smells just as delicious. I have to get this and have a full-body massage with this stuff! If you've already tried the Superfruit line then you know exactly what I'm talking about. If not, then you are truly missing out on something amazing.

Garlic is a great way to combat hair loss but who wants to put stinky garlic juice in their hair? The Nunaat garlic shampoo and conditioner are the perfect answer to getting the benefits of garlic into thirsty strands without offending anyone with the odor. The shampoo and conditioner have very pleasant, clean and refreshing fragrances... just how I like my hair to smell.
The Badger Balm Cuticle Care is a USDA certified organic cuticle balm that is extremely moisturizing. I love this balm because it actually works for me. There are no parabens, GMOs or synthetic ingredients in the balm and what I love the most is that it can be used in any way that you want. It's phenomenal as a lip or hair moisturizer, skin softener, nails, feet- you name it. Talk about stretching a dollar, a little bit goes a long way and at less than $6 a pop you'll definitely get your money's worth.

EA Polish is a chic brand that creates not only nail polish, oh now they go as far as to eloquently pair each nail polish color with a fashionable ring. The Berry Oh! Color is a deep, fierce purple for a bolder, more confident aesthetic. It's pretty dope that all of EA Polishes are free from the four major toxic chemicals that are usually found in the majority of nail polishes; Toulene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phathalat, and Camphor. Although one coat will provide ample coverage, go for two coats so the color will last longer.
Milani Perfect Tone Lip Gloss (Pictured Color 5111: Blackberry) Retail price for full size: $2.99 for .4 oz
I'm a fan of Black Radiance, I love their lip colors because they are extremely affordable and their colors are pretty pigmented. The same thing applies for their perfect tone lip gloss. The blackberry is a beautiful, deep violet which is perfect for the fall. It can be worn alone or over a matching lip color but trust me, it looks amazing by itself.
Milani Liquid-Like Eye Liner Pencil (Pictured Color 05: Brown) Retail for full size: $7.99
I love liquid eyeliner, I don't think I've used a pencil eyeliner since high school. I hated how it would smudge and I'd have that 90s grudge look by the end of the day. The Milani liquid-like eye liner is nothing like that. Although it comes in a pencil form, it goes on smoothly and stays in place for hours. It doesn't smudge or smear, and will stay in place until you say otherwise.
For this being my first beauty box by Cocotique, I have to say I was impressed with all of the products that were included. All of the carefully curated products could easily fit into my lifestyle and some were even brands/products that I use on a regular basis anyway. I look forward to seeing what Cocotique has in store for their future boxes. The $20 subscription cost will definitely pay for itself, especially with having so many full size products, extra savings coupons and a full year subscription to Hype Hair magazine?! This month's box was valued a little over $50.
