This is one of those islands that are too stunning, no picture can do Syros justice.The capital of the Cyclades is a stunning treasure in the Aegean sea. It took us about 4 hours to get there from Piraeus port, since is it located 78 nautical mile at the south-east of Athens.
We stayed at the island capital Hermoupoli, but I will love to go back sometimes and explore the entire island.
Ermoupoli gives the vibes of a city than a traditional Cycladic island, but the moment you walk a to its beautiful beaches, you totally forget that city vibe.
A lot of foreign tourist prefer other Cycladic islands like Mykonos, Naxos, Tynos, Paxos to Syros. Syros is a perfect holiday place for families, lovers of art and people who just want to relax, meet locals and explore beautiful mansions and neoclassical architectural treasures.
