Sydney. My Memories and Work/Life Balance

Sydney. My Memories and Work/Life BalanceGoing through some of my old photos last night I came across some pictures I took last December on our arrival back to Sydney from New Zealand. It got me thinking about the time I spent in Sydney and how there are some things I actually do miss about living there. I am probably one of the few people out there who doesn't want to live in Sydney. I lived there for 4 years whilst I was studying but have since moved interstate since graduating. Sydney provided me with lots of good opportunities and great memories but I was also very happy to leave once I was done.
Sydney. My Memories and Work/Life BalanceSydney. My Memories and Work/Life BalanceWhat I love and do miss about living in a large city is the opportunities it provides- career wise and socially. There are always new and exciting things going on and you are never really bored. Living in a smaller city in my profession means there is not the specialist training that comes with living in a large city like Sydney. However the straw that broke the camels back was how busy Sydney is and the time I spent traveling to and from study/work each day- there has to be more to life. I craved a work life balance I couldn't foresee achieving if I stayed in Sydney.
Sydney. My Memories and Work/Life BalanceI am enjoying my setup this year- I live close to my work. I can drive and I can leave home 20min before I am due to start work without any hassle. I am looking at doing some further training and study which means trips to the big smoke but I am happy that I'll be able to return home once again. I am still close enough to Sydney that within a few hours I can be back in the big city if I ever wish or need to be. For me that is the best work life balance.
