[SWATCH] L'Oreal Project Runway The Temptress' Gaze

By Superbijinup @superbijinup
Hi lovelies!

As promised, here is the first part of the swatches series that I'm going to do on the Fall 2012 limited edition Project Runway series from L'Oreal! I was pretty excited that I was able to get a hold of these at a Rite Aid in Los Angeles.  I originally saw them at the CVS in my city but when I went back to actually get them, they weren't there anymore! WHAT!? In any case, apparently they're more common at Rite Aid because I went to my local Rite Aid and BAM! A FULL DISPLAY! -facepalm-

Project Runway comes out with four different lines each time and each line has a different theme that revolves around a color scheme.  This year they came out with the following themes:
  • The Enchanted Queen (for a dark and dramatic look)
  • The Seductive Temptress (for an unexpected, almost venomous look)
  • The Wise Mystic (for a futuristic look)
  • The Artsy Muse (for a playful and light-hearted look).
I only ended up picking up two of the eyeshadow palettes because the other ones seemed a little bit weird in terms of colors.  I wouldn't even begin to know how I would apply the colors though they would probably be good for Halloween!

The first swatches will be from the Temptress line.  I liked the simplicity of these colors and thought that they were PERFECT for Fall!  Although I will include pictures from the rest of the line, I will only be swatching the eyeshadow quad in this post.

Full Line

Each line comes with one eyeshadow quad, one blush, one lipstick, one lipgloss, and two nail colors.

Colors

The four colors included in this palette are very neutral.  They included the following colors: gold, taupe, forest green, matte dark brown.  Very easily translatable into a look with two lighter shades and two darker shades.

Packaging

There's really not much to say about the packaging.  It's basic and clicks shut rather snugly which is good for traveling.  The foam/sponge applicator isn't that great but I'm sure that you will more than likely bring eyeshadow brushes with you should you go on a trip.

Swatches

I wasn't OVERLY impressed with the formula.  I normally like their quads but this time, the colors didn't translate too well onto skin.  As you can see, they weren't as bright as they are in the pan.  I think that I would definitely need to use some sort of primer in order to bring out the colors more.

Eyes

I had created a look today using this palette since this is such a great look for Fall.  It was very difficult to really bring out that forest green color by itself but I managed to use it as a pop of color along the black liner and it translated pretty well.  These pictures were taken about 8 hours after application so you can see that it stayed put and intact even without primer.

Thoughts

Overall, I did like the palette and the colors included in the palette but for the price, I don't believe that it's worth it to get it by itself.  I would definitely get this if you're into collecting limited edition palettes and if you like fall-esque shades to add to your current arsenal of eyeshadows.  Use your coupon clipping skills to make this palette more worthwhile and less of a dent on your wallet!

Rating: 3.75/5.0 stars

Did you get to haul it yet? Have you tried it? What are your thoughts?
