Suziewong – A Chinese Foodplosion from the Past

Review Overview

Suziewong Sikanderpur, Gurgaon, Suziewong Restaurant Review, Photos

As a matter of fact, I have known Suziewong from its previous avtaar in Rajendra Place in Delhi. Back then the entrance to Suziewong was not as swanky as enjoyed by its Mughlai food neighbour - Mughal Mahal. That dingy, mostly unlit corridor that led to an equally dim lit restaurant was at best scary. So, you can imagine what we kids used to go through for the sake of good food.

Scary corridors notwithstanding, my friends and I used to love the food there. Hence, I was suitably intrigued when I came across Suziewong located in Sikanderpur, Gurgaon, once again a few months ago on a Zomato search. This was after some 25 years.

As a result, nostalgia crept in and my tastebuds started salivating. So, I didn't hesitate to call to check if it was by the same people. Surprisingly, I got my answer in an affirmative from the phone bearer. This immediately took me down the memory lane to the years when I was growing up in the same neighborhood and used to walk to Suziewong just to gorge on their mixed meat chowmein. Needless to say, that was my first order once again and it did hit the right mark.

Notably, Suziewong has an extensive menu to choose from. So there is a lot to be checked out. Their order takers are pleasant to talk to, though they may not always be aware of the details of the dish. However, the food packaging is quite average and comes it comes wrapped in Zomato tapes. It is important to realise that this is huge branding opportunity and great customer experience Suziewong is sacrificing over a small additional cost.

In fact by now I have ordered from Suziewong in Sikanderpur on several occasions. Mostly, I have not been disappointed with the food or their prompt delivery service. Though, sometimes I have been. Hence, the rating of 3.5.

Yes! I am yet to visit the restaurant, despite the fact that it is yet again within my walking distance. Foodwise, I highly recommend their mixed meat chowmein, chicken sweet & sour, crispy vegetables salt & pepper and crispy chicken with smoked chilli, ginger and cashewnuts.

So what went wrong! A couple of times, I felt that they compromised on amount of meat in the chow. Secondly, once I received my order with two chicken (same) dishes while I had ordered a chicken and a lamb. Worst, they didn't offer to amend even when I gave them the feedback about the botch-ups. This is as bad as it can get I hope.

To Sum-It-Up: Suziewong misses have not deterred me from ordering food for home until now. I just hope that they take customer feedback seriously and make required changes. You must try it.
