SuperLunchNotes: Bird Week!

By Designerdaddy @DesignerDaddy

In an attempt to bring forth Spring, last week I doodled a flock of super-powered avian adventurers. Yet as I’m typing this, snow is falling. AGAIN. Guess I’ll have to up my game for next week… In the mean time, take a gander at these guys and gals (and ducks) and be sure and Tweet them to all your fine-feathered friends.

WEEK 33: Mar 24 – Mar 28, 2014

Raven: 3.24.14

raven

The kiddo and I have been binge-watching Teen Titans Go! lately. I always found Raven a bit annoying in the comics, but I dig her slacker/goth vibe in this iteration. Favorite episode is “Meatball Party” — Cyborg reminded me of my ex and Raven was me, annoyed at his unending enthusiasm. Just glad I don’t have a demon living in my tooth.

Hawkman & Hawkgirl: 3.25.14

hawks

I had a difficult time coming up with something clever to say on today’s note. I didn’t want to say “killing 2 birds with 1 stone,” or “a bird in the hand…” Hopefully what I settled on doesn’t remind anyone of “2 girls, 1 cup.” And if you don’t know what that is, please don’t look it up.

EagleBones Falconhawk: 3.26.14

eaglebones

The coolest of The Aquabats: wearer of long, flowing locks; wielder of a lightning-shooting axe; summoner of The Dude, a super powered, invisible eagle who arrives amidst a flurry of acid-trippy special effects in times of need. Sound kinda flighty? Check it out for yourself before harshing his buzz.

Ming Ming: 3.27.14

mingming

Upon seeing this note, if you don’t immediately sing/shout “TEAM-WORK!” you’ve clearly never seen the super-adorable show The Wonder Pets. It features a trio of pets that set out on adventures to rescue other widdle cweatures in twubble. My favorite episode by far is when they riff on the Fab Four in Save the Beetles.

Hawkeye: 3.28.14

hawkeye-eye

Yeah, I know he looks kinda girly — I got that comment from Papa and JJ, who was convinced this was Hawkeye’s niece (?). But I’m sorry — Hawkeye’s costume in the Avengers movie (of which JJ is most familiar) is LAME. And I’m sure the pointy, purple mask helps with his marksmanship.
