In the face of adversity

This week, I take a break from usual programming to share a few words with you following the devastating acts of terror in Manchester, England this week.
To the 22 individuals that sadly lost their lives on Monday night, we are forever bound in grief, gratitude and love for you. It is profoundly unbelievable how sad you can feel for a life lost that you never even knew. So many of these lives were unfairly cut short in a blind act of terror that I continue to disbelieve every day. But ignorance is not the way forward: terrorists, extremists, act in such extreme ways to cause distress, create tension and anger and to divide other nations.
In the face of adversity? As always, the United Kingdom came together to spread love and awareness, to keep young ones safe and made every possible effort to reunite families. I was in complete shock when I opened my Facebook news feed at just gone 11pm to find a confused status from my friend who’d just left the Ariana Grande concert and heard ‘a bang’. She had left via a different exit and hopped in a taxi home. Moments later, her Facebook status drastically changed and every media outlet bubbled with fear uncertainty. She commented how her taxi driver returned the following day to make sure she was doing fine given the situation she’d narrowly escaped. It was sobering.
I chose to continue sharing words and thoughts on Daisybutter this week just gone and I hope that you’ll understand that whilst I personally grieved, I wanted to keep on keeping on in the more public sphere. There has been plenty of conversation about this but, for me, bringing 10 minutes of joy to even one person in a day was my goal and infinitely is my goal with the blog. It is almost madness that we critique even the tiniest gestures that one makes these days. I often feel suffocated by the unspoken pressures.
Today and forever, choose to spread love and joy, when and where you can ♥ Happy Sunday.
