Happy Sunday!

Who else is watching the World Cup? I cannot seem to get enough of these games, streaming it at work along with some coworkers, watching it on my phone when out, and just staying in tuned with everything that is happening. I may love football, but I adore soccer. It is truly an impressive sport.

Speaking of sports, we are all getting ready for the big trip to Branson on Tuesday. With temperatures predicted to hover around 100 degrees, I am sure there will be plenty of pool time when we are not at the theater. I know we are all looking forward to getting away for a bit, even if we will not have a lot of down time.

Connor will be back here holding down the fort. It is good test of just how much he has matured that we trust him enough to leave him with the dogs and the house. Granted, his job this summer is to work as much as possible, so there was no way we were going to let him take a week off of work. Still, we would have never trusted him to get up on his own to get to work or trust him to pay attention to pay to the dogs and keep the house presentable. I am so impressed with how much he has grown even in the few weeks he has been home. I love seeing the adult in him coming out more and more.

This past week was a little hectic, as Holly had poms practices and dance rehearsals in the middle of the day. With the boys working in Milwaukee, it meant I had to leave work multiple times to pick her up and drop her off all around town. This has been something with which we have had to deal ever since Connor started cross-country back in sixth grade. I will never understand why coaches and schools plan events or practices in the middle of the day during summer. People work. I am lucky enough to have a job that allows me the flexibility to leave work to go get her, but this was not always the case. I also suspect that I am in the minority when it comes to working parents. If you are ever in a position to plan practices for a team of any sort, please consider the parents and not just your schedule.

Enough ranting. I am on vacation. The sun is out. Soccer is on the TV. My coffee is hot, and my house is cool. I survived last week and get one week away from the stresses of work. No complaints here.

I hope you all have a great day and an even better week. I’ll see you back here next time!
