Sunday Lunch- Chatpate Aloo Ki Sabzi

When it is drizzling outside, and if it's a Sunday, a perfect lunch would have to be garma garam masala Poori and chatpate Aloo ki sabzi. To accompany that I have made khatta meetha kadddu ki sabzi and achar goes along very well. This is a complete meal, I am posting chatpati aloo ka sabzi here and the other recipes will come in the upcoming posts. 

Sunday Lunch- Chatpate Aloo ki sabzi 
Sunday Lunch- Chatpate Aloo ki sabzi Servings : 4-5 persons
Preparation time :  10 minutes
Cooking time : 10-15 minutes

Ingredients :

Potatoes (Boiled, peeled and diced) : 1/2 Kg

Tomatoes : 3-4 medium or 1- 1 1/2 cup puree
Ginger (Grated) : 1 tsp
Green chili : 1
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Dried Coriander powder : 1-2 tsp
Red chili powder : 1/2 tsp
Bay Leaf : 1
Whole red chili : 1-2
Cumin seeds : 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds : 1/4 tsp
Chana masala : 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida : a pinch
Salt : to taste
Oil : 3 tbsp
Water : 2 cups


Method :

1. Boil potatoes, peel and dice them. Keep them aside.

2. In a mixer take tomatoes, green chili, ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. Grind them together.
3. Heat oil in a kadhai or in a deep bottomed pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, whole red chili and bay leaf. Saute them.
4. Now add diced potatoes and saute for a minute. 
5. Take potatoes out of the kadhai and put in a plate.
6. Now in the same kadhai add a little oil ( if needed ) put the tomato puree and cook it till oil gets separated.
7. Add the cooked potatoes and water. 
8. Add the chana masala and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
10. Serve hot.
