The days of walking into a dentist’s office and having to step over and around all sorts of equipment with wires are long gone. Most offices today feature modern devices such as wireless intraoral cameras, wireless digital X-ray sensors, wireless remote controls and diode lasers, all of which reduce clutter in the office while dramatically shortening the procedure time for dentists and patients alike. The diode lasers, in particular, are a fascinating addition for dentists old enough to remember when dental lasers were so big they were nicknamed “coffee tables.” Yet diode lasers can fit into a shirt pocket, all while providing the power and potency dentists have come to expect from lasers.
