Subway Goes Gluten Free in Rochester | Restaurant Review by MaryAnn

Making connections and raising awareness is the mission of this blog. Where to eat, how to eat, and what to eat are the most essential questions for persons living with celiac disease. They are also the topics that we tend to cover the most here in our little space on the web. A celiac foodie and member of Gluten Free Rochester; a celiac Facebook support group that I founded wrote the following review on Subway locations on our area that have gluten free offerings and I wanted to share it with everyone. Thanks so much MaryAnn for your contribution.

Subway now has two locations in Rochester, New York that offer gluten free rolls. These two locations are operated by owners who have a daughter with Celiac Disease, so they are well versed in the precautions that need to be taken when preparing gluten free food.
All the toppings are gluten free with the exception of the Teriyaki chicken, meatballs and honey mustard.  The rolls are individually wrapped and cost a $1.00 each. Tell your server that you will be ordering a gluten free sub from their varied selection, and after you make your selection, he/she will immediately wash their hands and put on fresh gloves. They will then put a fresh piece of paper on the board to prepare your order. If you would like the roll toasted, or toasted twice (after the sub is made, also), they will toast the roll on fresh paper in their oven.  Since they make the subs in front of you, you will be able to monitor how your sub is assembled. The locations currently offering this service are:
3400 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, NY in Pittsford Colony Plaza across from Pittsford Plaza
846 Long Pond Rd., Greece, NY in Stoney Creek Commons
