From Ithaki Weddings: “The style of this shoot was based and influenced by the villa venue we used, offering rustic luxury hidden amongst olive, pine and cyprus trees. The villa which lends itself to any micro wedding or intimate celebration by offering a variety of areas in which the various aspects of the couples’ day can be hosted.  The villa split over two levels with an ‘upside down’ layout, the living quarters being upstairs opening out onto a stone patio area which provided the perfect ceremony location, white voile woven around the metal frame of the pergola created a arch with two gold metal cube columns either side each suspended with an arrangement of olive, eucalyptus and white roses reaching to the ground with gold lanterns  filled with an unstructured arrangement using the same florals, stunning views overlooking the tops of the trees across to the nearby mountains and sea, stone steps leading down to an enclosed courtyard in the center of which is an established olive tree offering natural shade, our table scape was set up in this area and set off by the pale stone of the villa walls and the traditional bordeaux painted shutters.  Surrounding the courtyard established shrubs jostle for position in between which a narrow footpath leads you to the unique shaped pool, a truly romantic setting for our couples’ portraits to be captured”.

“Our table set up under the olive tree was laid with a simple white cloth, a wide bordeaux colored runner along the center tying in with the shutters of the same color, each place setting was made up of three plates – plain white, pale pink and a subtly patterned cream and pale pink, white linen napkins with bronze colored cutlery along with bordeaux colored wine glasses and clear water glasses, white, gold and bordeaux candles of differing heights along with ceramic sphere wedding favors completed the tables décor. The floral design reflected the villa gardens which are both established with beautiful shrubs, plants and trees yet have a wild naturalness about them – lanterns filled with unstructured olive, eucalyptus and white rose arrangements were used within the table décor and the ceremony area, gold metal columns with the same combination of florals cascading from top to bottom, bronze urns with large statement arrangements along the same theme of white roses, olive and eucalyptus with pampas grass added to give texture and volume, the combination blending into the gardens perfectly.”

“Our bride worn an elegant simple dress with a high neck open back with cross over straps, the simplicity of the dress was enhanced by the simple yet elegant gold and pearl jewelry.  Our hair stylist created loose long curls leaving our brides hair to cascade freely, make up was kept to natural tones in keeping with the simplicity of the overall look. Her bouquet, an elongated style using the florals of the day. Our groom wore white linen shirt and trousers with a navy-blue linen jacket accessorizing with his own unique style and jewelry, a look that complemented and highlighted the simple elegance of our brides’ outfit, a casually relaxed smartness so in keeping with the venue and the islands vibe.”

“Situated on one of the terraces within the garden we set up our champagne & fruit area, with one of our statement urn arrangements, gold lanterns with both floral arrangements or a variety of candles inside. Our wedding stationery with beautiful calligraphy, pale pink and cream tones, with opaque place cards complemented the theme created with its’ elegance and simplicity. The color palette of bordeaux, gold, white and green was strongly influenced by the history of Ithaca, the island and once kingdom of Odysseus – the color bordeaux is the traditional color used within Ithacan architecture, in this case the bordeaux colored window shutters and doors using this and tones of pinks as highlights throughout the theme, the color representing the Bordeaux color of Odysseus’s wine, the greens taken from the naturalness of the islands landscape and the villas semi wild grounds mixed in with whites and golds to give a lux feel.”
